extension cord

with the summer months come around again the need for music in the garden has once again struck.

i have some old pc speakers which i will use with my ipod.

the problem is power. the area i want to play the music is around 30m from the nearest plug. i have a 10m extensions lead, but it obviously doesnt reach.

in my shed i have several hundred feet of flex, could i extend the length of the speakers power cable to around 40m and have no problems? my dad used to do this stuff all the time with appliances, but i always thought it a bit iffy.

i dont expect it to be water proof, but it doesnt really need to be.

There shouldn't be a problem with that; most PC speakers draw less than an amp so you can use a long extension cord just fine.

Better yet build a battery pack

but he already has free electrical cable

a battery pack would cost like 30 bucks, and you can only use it half the time.

indeed, the cable costs nothing.

im actually thinking about buying a cheap cd boombox from my local asda for Â£20. the quality is crap, but im sure i could mod it to accept an mini jack input somehow.
