How do I boost PSOne audio?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

How do I boost PSOne audio?

Post by Life of Brian »

Wahoo! I finally got my Atari to display on a PSOne screen, thanks to Ben's updated composite video mod. Works pretty good, still fine-tuning the color and whatnot... However, now that I got it working, it seems that the audio is kinda weak. How do I go about just making the volume levels louder (other than pressing "volume up")? The sound is pretty clear, it's just weak.

I don't know if this is going to be a modification to the screen's audio or something I do on the Atari, or a circuit I have to make myself, which means I don't know if this post goes in the Atari section, screen section, or technical questions. Ha ha, oh well. If it needs to be moved I'll understand

Edit: Well, nevermind. I learned my lesson - don't hop on the computer in the middle of a project to ask questions. I originally had hooked the audio up to the spot on the board that Ben had mentioned in his updated composite video circuit page because he said he got cleaner audio off of it. However, when I hooked the audio back up to the original spot for audio mentioned in his book, the sound is like twenty times louder. Oh well.
