2600 Power Supply

I asked this a while ago but i cant remember the site that sells them, does anyone know a site that sells power supplies for the 6 switch 2600, mine is cracked and is very annoying to deal with to try to play games one the console

just get a universal power supply, or one that has multiple tips (just make sure it outputs 9 volts, and at least 500mA)

he means the jack on the console, the female side, not the wall wart

You should be able to use any DC jack. Just desolder your old, cracked jack. Take that, along with your wall wart to RadioShack and find a replacement jack that the wall wart will plug into and if you can, one that has the same pin spacing as your old jack. (Makes it much easier to solder back in place.

I went to Radio Shack and found a power supply that is different as opposed to the orginal atari one, I dident buy it because i have the same one i can strip from a old cable descrambler. I have a diagram of the old atari power jack and the new one I am considering using

I obviously would have trouble mounting it to the board but in the diagram i labeled negative and positive for the new one, but I need to know what points on the orginal jack is positive, negative, etc

Do you have a multimeter? Also, is the new power jack a panel mount? (Do you have a part number you can give me if you don't know?)

I dont have a multimeter available to me right now, the new power jack is a panel mount, and I'm on Radio Shack's site and i cant find the number for the new power jack i have

Alright I did more searching on Radio Shack's site and I found a power adapter that is extremely similar to the one they were selling, and the one I stripped.

I soldered the new jack and I'm still having the same problem as before (rolling screen, black and white), does anyone know what the problem might be?

You should have mentioned that you were having that happen, I could tell you right of the bat that it's not a power problem (maybe if it was flickering on and off, it would be)

I would try cleaning your games a bit, maybe your cart connector. Also, try an A/V mod... it's always possible that it's a problem with where composite video goes to RF, and this would bypass all of that.

If that fails, I'm guessing you have a bad Stella (AKA TIA) chip

I did clean the connector and the games i first tried i tried by my friends house and they worked fine, the reason why i replaced the power adapter was because even if it dident fix it i couldent stand my old one anymore.

I will look into AV modding if not doing something to strengthen the RF signal is it possible for u to give me a site for it?
