video question

if something has a video out (just talking component (yellow wire)video), does that mean it could possibly support video in?(again, just talking component video).

If you're talking about something with a screen, it depends on the device. You'll likely get interference from the main device (i.e. DVD player) while it's on though, if it does work.

If you're wondering if you hook composite in to your computer through its composite output, you can't.

i have a canon video camera. with the interference problem, couldnt you just unhook the video from the camera?

Yes, you should be able to that. Most video cameras just use composite screens, so separating it from the camera should work.

Does anyone know if my video camera could be harmed by inputing through the outputs?
PS: I recently discovered that my HDTV can input RGB and I want to make a VGA to RGB (plus vertical and horizontal sync) cable. If I mess up, will my TV die?

It shouldn't. The voltage output by a video source should not be high enough to damage output-only video stuff.

What type of screen is it? CRTs and probably plasma screens could be damaged by inputing a signal out of range for a length of time. Best to pay the $15-30 it takes to buy the cable from a computer store.

Since I could damage my HDTV, I won't do it.
