trebuchet.com
They have a forum, they sell kits for seige engines, and they have links to pages of people who have built other seigen engines.

There was also an episode of Mail Call where the admin. from trebuchet.com had one for Ermmy. Had an 800 lb. conter-weight and floung watermelons a good 100 yards or more.

I've built a few trebuchets at summer camp before, out of telephone pole sized logs

I'll tell you that if you want a good cheap type of rope for the engine of a seige, try parasute cord, I built one using that stuff and well lest just say the fram was more likely to brake before the cord was.

Well you get a lot of smoke out of just cooking sugar, so the saltpeter is likely just an ingniter.
