ps2 - battery, screen advise wanted

Post by KnightRid »

Hi, well I have the slim PS2, and I have this lcd screen... http://www.mojoplay.com/MP_710.html

my question - will a normal 9v battery still power all of that, or do I need to get a different LCD?

I also found this battery... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 ... ttery.html

9V 8000mah

I am figuring the LCD screen I have might use more power than the psone screen, but if I get a higher mah battery, will it allow me to run it, even if it is for less time?

Think that is all for now - notice the "for now" ;)

Thank You

Well, mAh really doesn't tell you if the batt will work or not, unless your mAh is like 0  . How many volts does that screen input? If it is about 9v (+ or - 1) it should be okay, but if it is any higher, you'll need a different battery. Any lower, and you'll want to hook up some resistors. The mini PS2 will run off that batt, because it only inputs something like 8.5v. Good luck!

PS: I bet that screen consumes some crazy high amount of power. In that case, you may wanna try a different screen.

lcd is 8.5V ( same as ps2 ) and 8watts ( if that matters )

I was saying the mah will determine the length of time that the device would be usable..the higher the mah, the longer the use...I figured with the PS2 and the lcd, the higher the mah, the longer I can use it....figured the lcd would drop the usability time WAY down, so go with higher mah, get decent usability...

Yea..I am a newbie..old, but still a newbie :)

Thanx

Ok, then the batt should work well. Also, most current-gen portables use 2 3000 mAh batteries, which means at 6000 mAh, they are acutally weaker than yours! So you should be getting decent playtime, unless that screen of yours consumes some crazy amount. I recommend LED modding it.

The screen uses about an amp, 8.5/8=1amp. If the ps2 uses 1 amp too, then your looking at about 4hrs of play time.

I might give it a shot....maybe...battery is awful expensive :( the ones at wal-mart are only 7.2 volts...bummers.

thanx for the help...will let ya know if it works, if I try it...man $100 for a battery...argh

You could use 2 9.6v rc car batteries, play time would be 2-3hrs, I dont know if it will work with the extra .6v, it should though.

EDIT: These would cost about $50.
