I NEED ALT SNES MINI PINOUTS!!!

Post by Mikeyman64 »

Hey, I really need some alternate pinouts or contacts for the snes mini A/V out very badly! I accidentally ripped the A/V plug's contacts off the mobo, and I need to find another place to which I can solder my wires. I need at least a new coposite video point, but I would LOVE to get all of them (I'm re-adding the A/V out to my portable, along with the regular DC input and both controller slots so I can change between portable or console). Can anybody help? Links or pics would help, if you don't feel like explaninig where all the contacts are.
I know there has to be alternate contacts, because the A/V's had to come from somewhere right?

Just follow the traces from where you ripped them. Eventually you'll hit a chip or a capacitor that you can solder to.

Well, the traces are hidden on a snes mini board :( . That's my problem.

yeah, the bastards (how come this word isnt blocked but female of the dog species is)who made it painted the whole board brown for some dumb reason. its also probably multilayer

what do you mean "ripped off"... they still have to end somewhere. why cant you just use those points.

I can't find any place near where the contacts were that will stick to my (rosin center) solder. I need to know where the A/V contacts came from, like what pins from what chip, or at least the composite video. I'm getting another snes mini from a friend (I'm trading him my self-custom painted Snes v1, very sexy!), so it's not so important, but Id'e still like to know, so I can fix it! That thing cost me like $68!

I suggest grabbing the snes schematics and looking. Odds are you can grab composite at the chroma encoder IC.

Could you possibly post pictures of where the contacts ripped off? We may be able to locate the usable lead from that.

Most likely what he's done is rip the A/V socket straight off the board, pulling all the solder wells out with it.(If you don't know what a solder well is then check google.)

There should still be some contact left around where the wells were pulled out. I know this because that's what worked when I accidentally ripped out the controller sockets on my Mini SNES.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, it sucks big time when that happens, but it's not the end of the world. You can just scrape the solder masking off of the board carefully.

That's EXACTLY what happened! I just didn't know all the geeky tech words (I will some day) to put it in. Thanks!

Ohhhhhh!!! I thought you physically broke off that part of the MB  . Sorry, I'm an idiot. If I were paying attention, I could've helped you sooner.

Well whoopie! I figured out that the only a/v pins that even go out to the tv are CVBS (composite video), R+L (audio left), R-L (audio right) and the two A/V grounds. You can use the little chip described in Ben's book for the a/v out slot's audio L and R. And you can find two different alt CVBSs right under the a/v pins (on the bottom side), see the picture. Make sure that when you use one of the alt CVBS contact points, you solder your wire to the left side of the little chip thingy. The exact names of the chip things are, I think, R38 and C54[H/N]. I accually had my Snes fully running on my tv (video and sound) with only these few connections. Hope this helps some people. Feel free to put this in a sticky. :)
