NOAC thing?

Hey, I was at Good Will the other day, and they had a Genesis for 8 bucks, so I bought it. And a couple of feet away, there was this wierd looking N64-type controller with a game cart sticking out the back and a PlayStation looking controller sticking out the bottom via a Genesis/Atari 2600 type plug, called the "Power-Joy". It didn't have a price on it, so I tolde them it went with the Genesis and got it for free

. So I took it home (duh) and hooked it up (it had video and left (or mono) audio plugs coming out of the bottom) to my TV and started playing it. It has around 80 games that very closely reseble NES 8-bit games! Some that were incorrectly named classics, e.g. boom man (bomberman), clay shooting (duck hunt), Pandaroma (a cheap re-done version of SMB 1 where you played as, yup you guessed it, a panda!). And it had some games like Galaga, Gotcha, and a lot more. The cart slot only has 60 pins, so no, it doesn't directly play NES games, but does anyone know if it mighjt have a NOAC in it? If not, how would I tell?

Here is a pic (it has 7 buttons, up, down, left, right, start, select, reset and two d-pads of which one looks like a anolog stick. The thing on the top is a light gun tip and the trigger is on the bottom in the N64 Z location):

Yep, that has a NOAC alright, the connector is 60pin because the original Famicom cart form is popular among pirates.

You can buy a 60-72pin family converter or build your own socket to play NES games with it.

Oh that's sweet! Is there a section of the site that will give me info on NOACs so I can make my portable? And do you think this thing will play Famicom games?

Ya, the Power Joy is a pretty common NOAC type. The pinouts for it can be found in the sticky, as well as Here: http://portablesofdoom.org/page.php?page=nes from PoD. There is a link for a pretty good How To as well. Also, if you want to play NES games on it, you can get a 60-72 pin converter from ganon. If you drop him a PM (or go to his store on his website) you can pick one up there. Good luck!

I've already got some ideas. I got this hard plastic NES cart dust case with a NES game I got on ebay, and it just might be the right size for a NOACp. Plus, it opens and snaps closed for easy display (the best way to show off my skills

). I can't wait! Anybody know where I can get a non-psone screen (far too big), like a casio mini tv, for a decent price?

Search Ebay for "Hip gear [or hipgear] screen pad" or "intec screen pad". They are nice little screens that are easily hacked. 2.6 inches to be exact.

Do you know what the exact name of the 2.6" one is? Or what system it's for? All the ones I found are +5", and that might be to big.

I have that exact same NOAC! I love it, just get a Fami-NES converter and that'll be right on the money! I love that NOAC.

Well, it is pretty big as far as NOACs go, but the fact that the built in controller is on the same pcb blows me away!
