GBA with 5.4" screen

Post by yuppicide »

I want to take my GBA SP and stick it in some sort of bigger case (maybe just a plastic tackle box) and put a 5.4" screen. Does anyone have any experience with removing the screen and hooking it up to something else?!

Bear with me here, I'm not really good at soldering and what not.

It might be easier for me to go get an old GBA and screen and the tv de advance, but that might not work. I think the tv de advance needed it's own power supply.

you can do it with the GBA, not the sp. i dont know why any one would want to do it. like say it out loud, it most likly makes less sense when you hear your self saying it.

First off, yes it's possible on the SP. Anything is possible in a hacker's realm. I mean, if you look at the SP it's two halves probably connected inside by a ribbon wire.. so then it is possible.

Second, it's a good idea. I like playing my GBA games.. the screen is a little small though. I'd like a bigger screen, not only for games, but for seeing movies converted on the GBA Movie Player a little easier.

hmmmmm I wonder if the GBA movie player works on the third party GB player that plugs into the memory card slot on the GC, if so, my GCp could double as a movie player with a five inch screen :D!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for giving me that idea, yuppicide :D!!!!

about your GBA with a new screen, first of all check out the site HK mentioned, that should help you out a lot :). second of all, I'd say use the GBA and then use an av out adapter for GBA. Here's one :).
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I thought the guy that originally did the mod to replace the GBA screen used an a/v out adapter, so if you can have that constintly connected some how you can replace the screen. Unless the whole thing shuts down if the screen is detached.

Here's another guy who is making a GBA with a bigger screen. There isn't much info about it though.

yeah but the thing you need to make is improbable... plus you would save money on using a GBA.. there cheaper these days!

Also the ribions are vary difrent.(betwen the SP and GBA)
