DS Lite Questions

Post by Lucretius »

I've been searching all day and haven't gotten anything, so let's see what you all know:

1. Will the DS lite be region free and, for that matter, is my DS phat? For instance, if I import a DS Lite now, would I be able to play my regular US games on it?

2. Is the 200 dollar price tag that lik-sang's flashing Nintendo's price or can I expect some sharp drops soon?

3. Will Nintendo produce rumble packs that fit the DS Lite's stupidly designed GBA slot, or will we be forced to feel the shocks rather closely? Will games be made to fit it? For that matter, does that white thingy do anything, or is it just a cap?

4. Can I steal one from the comfort of my chair, or will I have to go on a daring, yet fruitless, adventure like Ethan?

Should be region free. However, the GUI will be all Japanese.

Lik-Sang always charges more becuase they're in demand. Expect price to go down as the old DS is phased out.

Nintendo definitely has plans to make rumble packs/accessories go in the GBA slot, if you look through the firmware in a hex editor, you'll see the string "DS RUMBLE PAK" or the like.

For the next months, I expect you'll be constrained to attempting pointless, unfruitful excursions. Just wait a bit.

1) Yes, it will be region free.

2) Hmm, dunno. Ask again later.

3) The white this is a protective cap to prevent dust from getting in. I don't know if anything fits properly, but leave it to the big N to make ends meet.

4) Probably a long an fruitless adventure.

1. All Ninty's handhelds so far have been region free and they'll keep it that way forever (considering Sony's doing it with the PSP).

2. Lik-Sang is only charging $200 because of the insane demand Japan has for it right now. Expect it to be $150USD here when it SHOULD BE COMING SOON, HINT HINT NINTENDO. C'mon, don't make us wait until E3 to announce us it's coming out in June or something. Bleh, the whole world already knows about the Lite, so just manufacture some units for us, eh?

That's why the GBA slot is stupidly designed as you say it is.

4. Do what you must, but get me one.

I think you can change the language of the menu on the DS and DS lite.
IMO, wait for it to come to America.

All DS's are in huge demand here, I've seen second-hand ones with price tags the same or higher than the new ones (when you can find them).

I have seen GB micros selling for $89 in the NEX, and much higher in Japanese stores. Are the prices dropping in all of the "american" stores?

Sorry I don't know what white thingy you're talking about, could you be a bit more specific? And most definetly they'll make a rumble pack for the DS lite.
He means this
thingy
It is designed so you don't have to have an empty space where the GBA slot is. It also fits the GBA slot so it doesn't stick out.
so in essence, it is a cap.
