x86 emulator for x86?

Does a x86 emulator exist for x86? Like, can i run Linux under Windows? For installing iPod Linux this would help a lot! I wont have to switch between Linux and Windows and reboot my PC all the time. So basicly, is there something where i can run a live-cd iso in Windows? Preferably free

<a href="http://bochs.sourceforge.net/">Bochs!</a> I've run some live CDs on it before, it works pretty well once you get it set up properly.

sadly enough, when i did a google search....that didnt come up, god i'm an idiot

Any other programs tho, just for kicks? How would i go about using my own Linux Live CD iso?

Yeah that would be VMware. Really I don't know way you'd want to emulate the hardware you're using. If you did want to do nothing but run other operating systems inside of say Windows, VMware.

Try VMWare player. Follow HackADay's instructions to get it working.

QEMU. Its like bochs, and not too different either. I actually don't know many differences between Bochs and QEMU, but it's worth a shot.

I did the Hack-A-Day VM Ware Player hack and it worked, so this can be closed

And the sad thing was, i ended up using Ubuntu, and something i downlloaded already had a pre-made Ubuntu img for VMWare. I feel like an idiot
