Add more Ram?

Post by Neildo_64 »

Would it be possible to remove the ram chip from an old n64 mobo and add it to a different one to increase the ram? Or, ive heard the ram is the same as the chip on the exp pak, could you have some sort of a home-made expansion pak with more ram than the regular exp pak?

it would probably not give any preformance gains. and it would be really hard.

Yeah, I know itd be hard and I didnt figure it would really help at all, I just wondered if it was possible to actually have the n64 running with more ram than designed. Thanks.

well, how about taking an old n64 with two ram chips on the mobo desoldering those and replaceing it w/ a new n64 ram chip and an exp pack ram chip. all you would need then is a jumper pack. sure its more expensive and hard to do, but you could just use a fine tip soldering iron, steady hands and a third hand. For those of you who don't know what one is,

you don't need more ram because N64 games were made for the amount of ram they have already, or with an expansion pack
