they have had plans of doing it for a while, but it has been scrapped twice, as far as I know, Microsoft slightly backed the Gizmondo, but after being a horrible failure they pulled all of their backing, kinda funny I think
Well they kind of have a handheld already in the form of devices running WindowsCE and Pocket PC's running Windows Mobile, now they just need to add more official game support for them (The Age of Empires port was good and I think I'll get Myst next)

What's it called? And where did you get it from?
CTFan
It's simply called the GBA Movie Player.
It plays movies, reads text, and plays music from an external CF (or SD) card.
Only $25 at Lik-Sang!
Cool! I know how to get text and music files on there, but what about video? They can't be ripped from a DVD, can they?

So THAT'S why Bill Gates is running away! Kind of ironic that the second Sony and Nintendo start to beef up their next-gen systems, Bill decides to go "feed the hungry children". Plus, Microsoft can't even do a console right, let alone a handheld. If the PSP couldn't take out the DS, what makes you think the Xbox1080SuperExtravaganzaportablewithHalobecausethat'sthebestgamewecanmuster can?
@ CTF:
I haven't gotten it in the mail yet (it arrives Monday/Tuesday) but I believe it just takes a video file from your hard drive, converts/compresses it, and puts it onto a CF card to then be put into the player that then goes in the GBA slot of your DS.
If it can take movies from a DVD depends on if your computer can rip DVDs. One thing I know for sure though is there's no Divx support.
Even if you can't get movies off your DVDs or tapes you could use a filesharing program like Limewire, but that's only legal if you actually already own the media!!!!!!!!
Cool! This product intrigues me......could you post a review of it when you get it? So all you really need is the SD Movie Player, an SD card, and the SD card reader/writer, right? Or should I get the CF version, the CF reader/writer, and a CF card? I don't have a CF card, though. How much are they?
Does anyone know if the opera browser for DS coming out in Japan in a couple months will be able to display in english? If so, I'm getting a lite and importing the browser.
