No work as of yet namely because the screen isn't here yet. I blame the fact that it was purchased on the 28th of December. Holidays always makes stuff ship slower.

And even if it was here, I don't know if I could have worked on it. I'm just now getting over the cold from hell. I feel a lot better. So when it gets here, I should be able to get to work instantaneously.

I have a few things in the works. One major surprise that will be either a love it or hate it kinda thing (I'm working it out right now in MSPaint). I've chosen the power LED color. No I'm not saying what. I have a layout for everything (Portrait). But a personal dilemma on how I should do it (Make my own case (Which I really want to do), or use the ZN40 (Which would be easier, but its such a widely used case, and well documented, I don't know if I'd feel extraordinarily good about using it. My ZN40 also has no screws and a small hold in one of the plates, so that poses a very small problem.).

All I know is the case is gonna be the hardest part for me. And I really hope it all turns out well for me.

So that's my update. For nothing being actually done, everything is smooth so far (IE: Looks good on paper).

Real fast, as I had to open up the SNES mini, I needed to make another bic screwdriver. As a small tip if you have to do this yourself, to give yourself more gripping power on the pen when actualy taking the screw out, I suggest melting around where you will hold it, and then suck on the open end of the pen. This will cause one side to collapse, giving you a finger divot to hold onto. Careful though, this can also weaken your screwdriver. It's only plastic to begin with. But it worked for me. Cheers!

It appears to work. Gonna have to take it apart and connect something directly to its composite line to know for sure. I'll update again as soon as I know.

The screen works. Well, at least the video side of it does. I cant say much about audio because I'm having a hellva time getting good solder joints for my wires.

And because I'm in a good mood cuz I'm finally back in business... I'll tell you the project name, and acronym for the secret thing I mentioned before. You know, the thing you are either gonna love or hate.

Project ISIS. Don't bother Googling it unless you don't know who Isis is as a person (Hint: Egyptian goddess. Important figure in Egyptian mythology and religion.). It won't help you figure out what this thing is, though. Enjoy.

Help please? I got everything hooked up (Minus them both using the same power source). Turned it on. Got sound, and a white screen. White screen of death? I hope not. Whats wrong? I cant find anything.

EDIT: Nevermind...I forgot the plug the LCD's ribbon in.

Hey, I'm allowed to forget things. Hell, when I powered it up the first time, I thought it was broken. Then realized I forgot to hook up the ground. It happens.

My progress for today: Audio and video are hooked up correctly. Everything works great. Good picture quality. Great sound. Everything is perfect. Which means my next step is to finish a couple things. Get the SNES running off one of the 7805s on back of the Zenith, and get ISIS finished. Wire up the controller. Which is a little more painful seeing as the plug broke when I removed it from the chassis of the old SNES board. Won't be to much of an issue, I'm sure. All in all, its nearly done. Then the fun part; Case making.

I figured I should let you all know, in about 15 minutes I'll be losing my internet connection for who knows how long. I was gonna have a friend of mine post this message for me in case I missed the window of opportunity. Well, I didn't, though I still hope this friend posts as...well, I don't have very many good friends like that. Maybe five. And it'd be nice to see replies to this when I get back. Just to know that I was missed.

...it was the satellite TV I lost today at midnight (Imagine my surprise when I suddenly lost my channel)....Not the satellite internet....

Honestly, all I watch on TV nowadays seems to be reruns. And those are online commercial free for free.

Was working around on wiring and suddenly realized....I hated using single-strand, hard CAT5 copper wire for all my connections. I mean, its fine for power reasons. A good stiff wire is nice for putting voltage through. But not signal wires like controller and A/V lines. In fact those done with CAT5 look kinda messy if you aren't careful. Solution?

RIP IT ALL OUT AND REPLACE IT WITH IDE CABLE!!!

My next few days are gonna be busy...

I also need to find a cheap/free SNES controller...Cuz in trying to rewire that, I ripped multiple traces (I finally understand why people here don't like hot glue. What it holds down it holds down so well it rips traces when you try to take it back off.). Oh well... I learned something.

Just solder to the pins on the IC, or sand off the enamel on the remaining traces and solder to that.
