thinking about making a portable

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Just be aware that you will need to do a lot of work on the Gd-rom. The guy that made the first (name escapes me) says on his site that its like 50 pins.

Otherwise good luck.

50 wires aint so bad, it might take a little time but it isn't any worse than soldering 1 wire 50 times

Look here, I'd love to see if a novice with the soldering iron can do that. I've gotten farly good, but I wont go near something like that any time soon.

yeah, soldering the gd-rom controller board is WAY different than an cart slot....if I were to build a DCp, I would definitely just have it plug in there rather than rewiring it....
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Soldering that is like... finding a needle in a haystack that is on a wagon going 50 mph (or 75 Kph for all yeese canadians eh) while crows live and crap in it, and kids throw needles at the stack. It's possible, BUT IMPOSSIBLE.

you don't really need to do it, do you? it just depends on how the DC is gonna be arranged in the case

yeah, dkap01 had needed his DCp to be thinner, so he had to rewire it...

Hmm. So all you need are different voltages? If its that sinple i would imagine there would be tons of people making DCp's. Oh wait... there must be a catch :P

Getting my Dreamcast wasn't a problem. I traded my friend a Zippo lighter I found for a Dreamcast, two controllers, 3 memory cards, and 5 games
hello?

not if you know what you're doing and if you don't relocate the CD-rom thing. BTW, never discourage someone from portablizing something

acording to gamelver, power shouldn't be to hard :D
Gamelver wrote:you could also use a GC dc-dc converter (there's one in every GC!!!)....it outputs 12v, 5v, 3.4v, and 1.9v :)....(and yes, it works...I've tried it and I believe dkap01 used one on his DCp)
Which pins do what? I have a spare and want to use it.
