Is this controller joystick moddable?

I was thinking of doing the same with my dremel! The battery pack contains 6 AA size batteries. There are 2 groups of 3 that are permenantly in series. Mine is a 2 speed (7500 and 15000rpm). When it runs at 7500, the battery groups are parallel. When it runs at 15000, the battery groups are in series.

That sounds like it'd be an easy fun thing to mod. you could probably easily make it variable speed using a switching regulator and a pot as the Rset
