Re: PSP screen for N64 Portable?
if anything i would use the upper screen from a ds as it is 4:3 and costs about the same. dealextreme has 'em going for 14 bucks. sure it's a little smaller, but thats the price you pay for a good price tag i suppose.
I would also like to note that the psp is in fact not that smaller than the psone screen we all know and love in the diagonal of the screen. the psone is 5" where as the psp screen is 4.3".
but I still wouldn't bother if i were you

Re: PSP screen for N64 Portable?
This question about using a psp screen gets asked each year at least. It is practically a tradition at Benheck! The bottom line is that you'd need to make the controller yourself and because of its high resolution and colour you need something fairly fast. Faster than a PIC at least. If you were making an FPGA nintendo 64 in the first place it would be fun to integrate but it really is too much work to bother. If this still doesn't disuade you and you have some good developement tools and great skills here is the datasheet.
Re: PSP screen for N64 Portable?
The DS's screens are low resolution and would be nearly impossible to use. If you got them to work, it would likely cost far more than a PSone screen.OhSnap! wrote:what is rofl about it?

Happy?
Now that I have satisfied my urge to lulz: You could use a PSP LCD, but the parts needs will cost you in the hundreds of dollars, and the PSP LCD is not that great. DS LCD, same thing. See, all LCDs have a "controller board" that lets you take normal video signals, and changes them into something that those 20 to 9001 pin LCD ribbons can turn into a picture. So if you want to use a screen, you need a screen controller for it. That pretty much limits you to normal game screens, handheld TVs and DVD players with video inputs, in-car screens, or AEIcomp screens. In some cases, you can find LCD controller for laptop LCDs, but that is a gamble, and laptop LCDs eat a lot of power, generally.

Excellent
