Argh, I just realized that "in-game" in my post means "in one game." I meant, of course, cross-game, as pretty much every PS3 game you can play online has in-game voice chat. Same with the invites.
Also, Sony doesn't see custom firmware as a way to play homebrew software; they see it as a way to pirate games, which is a legitimate way to look at it as that's mainly what it's used for, so it makes sense to remove any and all possiblity of CFW being installed on their newest models. Linux, however, poses no such threat to the PS3 as, to my knowledge, there is no way to use it for pirating games. Not that you'd want to, of course; who'd want to take the time to download a 50GB file and spend $30 on a single blank Blu-Ray disc? By that point it's more practical to just buy the game.
What do yer thinks happening to Sony?

You can't emulate the 360 on the PS3. The PS3 is a powerful machine, but nowhere near powerful enough to emulate the 360.

Ah, kk, that makes sense.BoomBox-Creations wrote: and by alost hacking the PSP, i was referring to the 3000 and the TA 88v3 2000's, sorry, i didnt point that bit out....
Now, obviously, we're already running unsigned code on these, but it is of course very limited for now.
I have no doubt we'll be all the way in in no time at all.
And I'm sure it will come as no shock or surprise to Sony.

I thought you have been running a PSP modding shop for your job for 3 years? Seems that would conflict with your current statement.BoomBox-Creations wrote: well, i havent been in the PSP hacking buisness since Mid '07...
Guys, don't jump on boombox for stuff like this. Unlike us mere mortals, he has the ability to warp reality itself to change the laws of computing. He can even run DS games off the DSi SD card, and emulate GBA games, too! But don't take my word for it:BoomBox-Creations wrote:And the only reason i use the 360 for is the games that they dont have for the PS2/PS3. i could emulate them onto the PS3, but i really cant be bothered at the moment.
BoomBox-Creations wrote:Actually, my DSi has enough ram to run GBA games from the SD card, and it can run DS roms straight off the SD card.
Dont believe me? get a DSi and dry it yourself!
Do you understand how the game making industry works? Sony does not decide what studios make, and if they think that any game they have will be pirated a lot, it will not be on that platform.BoomBox-Creations wrote: but you are right, giving up is a lot like abandoning. but there is 1 noticable difference, if they were giving up, games are still being made for them. abandoning, games are slowing to a halt/not being made any more... like the PS1 is abanonded and the PS2 is being given up.
And games are slowing to a HALT? The PSP has one of the strongest lineups in YEARS for 2009!
Umm... Considering that it was a launch feature, I doubt it. I also doubt you knew this, but Sony did that mainly so that people could play will Cell powered CPUs at a low cost, hoping that they be wooed to buy some of Sony's Cell powered servers.BoomBox-Creations wrote: i wonder what they are going to add... maybe a ban for installing liunx or other OS's onto the system...
Honestly, Sony is giving the PSP a huge push, game, hardware, and PS3 interoperability wise, not to meantion the advances in the PlayStation online store. To claim they are abadoning the PSP is based on one thing, 32 days since the last update. Maybe me being with the GP2X scene where updates to the firmware were months apart makes me biased, but I honestly see nothing here that makes me think they are abandoning the PSP.

Excellent

Well, there ya go... we do have in-game voice chat in more than 1 game... what ya know...
you copy the ISO using alcohol or something and do somehting to it to play it on a PS3 without the disc.. but im no PS3 hacker...
but the real meaning of pirating games is ripping it from 1 disc and putting it on another...
like buying a copied PS2 game from bali.
we cant really do that normally on the PS2 yet...
well.... if i could download 100mb a minute, oppose to 1mb a min, i would spend the time downloading the 50gb file...
at that speed it should complete in 9-10 hours.
as opposed to, if i was trying to download 500mb on dialup, i leave it running for almost 2 days... non stop doing nothing on the computer...
but i know that is piracy, if there wasnt a law on it in both the US and AU i probably would do it...
and i do have a few 10 packs of blu ray discs, becuase i do have a blu-ray DVD player/recorder and a burner on my PC, so im all good recording 500 shows from normal TV onto that 1 disc... ( more like 20 shows, 500 is an over exclamation )

by " i cant be bothered " i mean i cant be bothered to find a way, or take the time to rip the games...
the PS3 is more powerful than the 360....
yes that is true, but i didnt know what i was doing. well. not until start of 2007.palmertech wrote:I thought you have been running a PSP modding shop for your job for 3 years? i am an owner of the PS3 installed with linux and no more to do with it.
Re: What do yer thinks happening to Sony?
That doesn't mean it can emulate the 360.BoomBox-Creations wrote: by " i cant be bothered " i mean i cant be bothered to find a way, or take the time to rip the games...

Ugh, this falls into the BASICS of emulation, even you should know that!
It's not just "more power".
That's... That's just idiotic...BoomBox-Creations wrote:yes that is true, but i didnt know what i was doing. well. not until start of 2007.palmertech wrote:I thought you have been running a PSP modding shop for your job for 3 years? Out of all the stupid crap you've said, this is the only thing that's ever actually made me somewhat angry with you.
You are an idiot. You're just blatantly lying. You're pulling a "religious logic" move here, "You can't prove I don't!" or "You can't prove it doesn't work!", because you don't think anyone here's going to have a DSi, or at least, not palmertech.
Really, I doubt you have one, and if you do, that's fine.
But the fact of the matter is, you are blatantly lying about something ridiculously stupid.
You're discrediting yourself.
You're making yourself sound unintelligent.
I don't recommend you keep doing that.
You're pushing it.
Re: What do yer thinks happening to Sony?
No, he doesn't even have to try to do that, it comes natural to him.jleemero wrote:You're making yourself sound unintelligent.
If the PS3 was fast enough to emulate the 360, then there should be no competition between them because the PS3 could easily blow the 360 away. But, the 360 is still around, with graphics comparable to the PS3's. Don't cry that its the developers' fault, even if it is their fault, it still shows that no one has the know how to fully harness the PS3's power.
