Normal DSL. ;_;
It's fast enough for PS3 online though, so I'm happy.

Looks like my speed. Not fast enough for voice chat, though. *Sadface*

Can you use voice chat, by any chance, or do you know?

Oh, sure.
I do iChat video chats at my mom's house, and our upload speed there doesn't even touch 1000kb/s.

It's all about the weight of the application you're using.

.....Oh.
I don't know. I don't have a headset yet.

When people try and talk, it sounds garbled. Is that a no?

Sounds like their upload speeds to me; supposedly I sound garbled/cut out a lot when I try to speak into the game, and I also have horrible lag after speaking, and when using the chat feature of the PS3, I get signed out of the PSN when I speak. My download speed is just about the same as yours, and I can hear everyone else okay, since they seem to have decent upload speeds.

I'm so glad that my mom switched to DSL 2 years ago. I showed her the AOL bill for $24.99 after the free month and Verizon DSL was/is 17.99 at the time. So we switched that day. I get about 864kbps but since my line is the suxorz it usually drops and connects at a lower speed. I think it's on Verizon's end. My grandma still has dial-up because it's $5 for her and she only plays simple games online. So that works fine for her.

Right now I'm limited to only DSL from verizon which in my area caps at 1.5mbps. Come on verizon, lets get those FiOS lines ran.

Yeah that looks like mine. I remember when I thought it was so fast.... Good old days.

believe it or not, i am on ( supposed to be ) 56k while the max speed ive got this connected is at 45.2kb/s

the max download, ( whihc was for 1 sec ) was at 200mb a sec, tehn it dropped from that to about 3kb/s in about 7 seconds..

Im not sure what my uplod is, i can still use a wabcam and a mic on skype, pretty clear aswell.... im not going to check anything on my PS3 for speed for live chat or not, because i currently havent figured out a way to connect my net to it...

The only reason im still on dialup is because of a phone company named Telstra ( im not sure if they are anywhere out of AUS so sorry ) for broadband, you need 4 phone points in the ground for it to connect. when my house was built, it only had 2.and bacause it has only 2 points, i cant hook any internet services up over the phone line at all... ( eg. westnet, which is another big internet service, which i haev dialup with them. )

Simply because, the site where i live, it is run by something called e-wire. They signed a contract that telstra was only allowed to put 2 points down, when the internet was controlled by e-wire.

see, and this also lacks, becuase my house was built without e-wire. it will cost me $700 AU to put it down and set it up, plus a extra $300 AU per month for unlimited downloads and their max speed ( whihc is almost 4gb a sec )

but i dont have that kind of money...

I had dial-up until about two years ago when I moved out and got DSL. It's fast enough for what I do. My cousin's still on dial-up because it's free. He'll go to DSL when he gets a job, though. You gotta do what you gotta do, and when you;re just doing e-mail and reading news, you can get by just fine with dial-up and a bit of patience.

One of the fastest results I've ever gotten.
THE Fastest was just over 25Mbit down, but I've only ever seen it that one time.

And to believe I pay for this what most any person in Japan can get a 100Mbit down-line for.

Also, be wary about testing with a "recommended" server.
With my "recommended" server, I'm lucky to pull over 4Mbit down.

I test off of Los Angeles, or Kalamazoo, both put me well into the ~20Mbit range.

1 MB (megabyte) is equal to 8Mb (megabit)
