EDIT: Isn't the power supply the same as the GBM's? I guess it doesn't matter much, only about 2 people actually own one
dslite.... ugly?

The DSLite has a MUCH brighter screen. The screen is so bright. I have yet to get one, but my friend showed me his, then proceeded to break it a few days later. I'll probably take it and fix it with a new ribbon cable and then embed it in a desk or something.

I'm wrong then, I haven't really seen the ds or sp charging plugs up close. (I never cared much for either system) I just did a search and saw what must have been an aftermarket one that looked an awfully lot like the gbm's down to the folding plugs.
It'd be nice if the DSlite did take the same plug. If I lost mine, I'd never get a replacement otherwise.
edit: but if you guys are talking about something that looks like the true mini usb connector, that's not at all what GBM takes. The gbm's is much larger.

I don't know where you get this "The old DS never has dead pixels." I know someone with the old DS and there's a big fat green dead pixel on the top screen.
But I disagree with the title of this thread. The DS lite is awesome looking! But what I don't get is why people care! Who looks at their handheld while they play it!? I understand the screen though, Nintendo made it MUCH better! I got mine on US launch day, and a few days ago I played my friends old DS. I had no idea how bad the screen really was! I couldn't even see it!
You really have play the DS lite to believe it.
Playing = Believing.

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
I still think the lite is cool. In fact, I'm getting mine on sunday.

You need to install 2.0 and try HU6280!Reaperman@home wrote:I don't want anything that leaves a visible bulge in my pants, uniform or otherwise--nor would I want one with a perfectly capable GBM already. The gp2x has about 3 times the bulk with it's protruding stick and battery hump and simply doesn't do enough that my current system doesn't do to justify its size. It's been sitting on my dresser since the 1.4.0 firmware. as for DS Lite--there's still a chance it's thin enough (but I doubt it) and I'd really like to make sure its buttons don't feel anything like the original DS. but there's no real way I can tell size, because nintendo has decided not to even put out mockups (like with GBM) and the people who run video game shops have no understanding about the importance of feel in handheld gaming.Triton wrote:you think the gp2x is too big? man thats out there, i consider anything smaller than a gamegear to be pretty damn small! my gp2x is perfectly pocketable in my opinion, but i usually have pretty big pockets so meh
Eventually I'll have to switch over to a DS system (since there are no proper gameboys on the horizon) but I'll probably have to wait until the third revision.

actually I thought the old turbografx emu was just fine. there's really only so many games I want to play for this system, though.sam fisher wrote: You need to install 2.0 and try HU6280!
but it is very nice to see DraculaX on the list. honestly I've never bothered to play it, but I'd really like to.
come to think of it...I've got something in my pocket with a pcengine emu on it... It's even got a built-in slow motion feature
I wonder if there will be nice emulators for the xgp mini?

that's what I used to think too, but the 'xgp kids,' redesigned gp32, seems to show at least *some* interest in maintaining a connection to their previous platform and its open source concept. I wonder if they gave it an sd slot...oh but then it wouldn't take any of the commercial titles they pushed on the 32...Triton wrote:if i were to guess the xgp and xgp mini will not be very open source and probably nver bee seen outside korea
