You would be suprised how much stuff gets wasted. My uncle had a friend who worked for IBM and would incinerate computers that they did not sell so he got my uncle a free laptop. Also Papa John's throws tons of unused pizza dough away everyday, not that you would go diving for that, but I am sure they could bake it and give it to homeless people. I am sure this is pretty much the same everywhere. Kinda like the Atari ET thing huh, to bad there isn't a dump where Nintendo puts all of there games

Yeah one thing my dad mentioned he got from the garbage at Chrysler was a "brand new torton-bar", which is worth about $600. They had no use so they pitched it.

Say this just jogged my memory... Didnt Jackforst22 talk about this before, dumpster diving, and maybe even Gannon.

hmmm

Im not sure about blockbusters, but i used to work at the local landfill, and youd be supprized what people throw away. I have a 650 watt 5.1 system (all the wireing, speakers, even an antenna, for the built in tuner) , 80 gig hdd, dvd/cdrw drive, palm zire, even a new gas scooter. The store trucks would come on saturdays, and I would talk to the people unloading the trucks, sometimes they would give me stuff. Others, like Lazboys, would come with leather recliners, and slash them with knives. Government trucks would sometimes come, with truckloads of electronics seized from illigal shipments, they would stay to make sure everything was crushed. Its a pretty cool place to work, I was always finding cool stuff. The keyboard im using now was found in the box. gotta love free stuff.

Its stupid that they don't let people use the throwaway stuff, they're, in a way, not recycling, and that's not cool.

It is technicly illegal, people think garbage is free game when it reaches the curb, but it's actuly government property. Also if the manager of a store finds you dumpster diving in their dumpster you better hope to god you have a large bank account and don't mind being band from the store you were cought at.

The police take dumpster diving very seriously, to them it's the stores property and it's just as bad as shoplifting.

Sometimes, if you're lucky, they'll be cool about it if you ask first. One time I saw an employee at GameStop bringing a few PSX games out to the trash, and I asked if I could have them. He just handed them to me! 8) I never went dumpster diving, even with permission, so I wouldn't know if this would work. But it might.

One time I found a CVS shopping cart next to the dumpster ar school, so we used it to move stuff between the different rooms (they relocated a couple rooms 2 years ago). When we were done with it I brought it back to the store.

Stuff people leave on the curb is good too. Sometimes I'll spot a halfway-decent piece of computer equipment, but I don't stop if nobody's home. If they are home, I go up to the door and ask if I can take it. If they say yes, I bring it home, clean it up, erase the drives, install Windows 2000 on it and donate it to the school. (I've got enough computer crap as it is :P)

Okay, my mom goes to blockbuster twice a week, so I'm a regular. They go in this order essentially.

Lets take a $30 item.

- $30
- $25
- $15
- $5
- $3
- $0.01

Within a course of a year on 3rd party accessories, and that isn't a lie. I've picked up several Penny items there.

I have an uncle that works for the dump and he finds all sorts of cool stuff, computer games and video games. One year he found close to ten thousand pepsi stuff points. Needless to say they all got new bikes from pepsi that year lol.
Drain555, to hell with the rest.

You can avoid the cops by dressing like a homeless person and bringing a shopping cart of pop cans with you. If the store catches you in the dumpster, they will usually just chase you away, because they think you are just looking for cans. It won't work for the younger people here, but the few older members can do this. Just stuff the good stuff in your pants when you're walking away, so they don't see you with the stuff. I know it sounds terrible, but it works.

Bic's method is a lot more legal though, and works when you get lucky.

My frined found several movies in the trash of a video store. Thing is, they were special tapes that were only sent to the video retailers. SO he got a movie several months efore it avtually came out on video! It even had scrolling text durin the entire video saying something like "Not for public viewing. Illegal to show, blah, blah, blah"

I might put on my army jacket and take out my bike into town and try that idea nos. All the homeless around here have bikes so I'll look fine if I hide my face with ski mask or something.
