You know, Ben pays a lot or semi lot for us. And some people sign up, and NEVER use Benheck. It's just sad, like that. 1324 members or something, and only 47% actually sign on. Sorry if this is spammy :P

It's not that much per month really. Could be worse, I could have a FPS server. THOSE are pricey.

Or you could host Linux .iso-s! thousands of people downloading 700MB files! Ow, the bandwidth!

Besides once pages are cached they don't take quite as much bandwidth. (Plus all the avatars except Ben's are served off-site so all the bandwidth they use is the image tags, and I think the entire phpbb folder is less than 20 MB...)

Well, there's also a lot of stuff in the database, which is each post, each piece of user info, each setting... lotsa stuff. If you were to back it up, I'd say it would be ~100MB, but that also includes commands (such as "INSERT INTO table VALUES ('stuff','stuff','stuff')" or something like that :P

Its also fun to guess whether a newbie will actually stay here. Lately there's been several who've done the typical way by registering and asking how hard it would be to make a certain kind of portable, and then leaving. I just find it odd how even though we technically have about 1000 users, only about a tenth of them seem to visit on a regular basis.

Maybe much the same way linuxquestions works. They have thousands of people there asking and answering questions. You likely will find an answer to your question. Everything else is easy to find.
