Post by marshallh »

On Wednesday I'm heading to K-State (Kansas State) university for a programming compo, I'm hoping to get 1st int he Advanced division. :) I'll be programming in Java, do you guys have any suggestions in general, or is anyone else going?

It's good to see someone who remembers the PC demoscene :p I made a few demos in ASM a few years back, unfortunately they were lost in a hard drive failure...

And gannon, no I don't use Java much except it's quick to write in (C and assembler just take more time to start coding, and since the events are timed, speed counts) And please get your emoticons right, it's <3 :P :lol:

i say if you can make a simulated "operating system" with stuff like a simple text editor, file browser, and interface maybe even a game if you can squeeze it. might take too long though......dont know how long this thing is

I'm being taught Java in school. Its the only language they offer(unless I were to take some webdesign course crap using Frontpage or something, no coding to speak of). I'd much rather learn C.

Learn C++, it's a lot better than C or C#.

http://www.cplusplus.com/

Just out of curiousity, what languages does everybody know? List anything(console, command line, internet), as well as anything close to a language.

The ones that I know are:

HTML/XHTML
PHP
Javascript
MySQL
Some C++
Some Java
And the one that most members here don't know, English.

I know a couple others, but I can't think of them right now.

Nice. I wish everyone would take the time to actually write in a readable format. *cough*FDSMAN!*cough*

I know:
Visual Basic Dos through 6
MSWLogo (a bit rusty)
Java
C
Some C++
Javascript
HTML
ASP

(glares at nos_slived's avatar) Hey...wait a minute...

I learned Visual Basic (5), but all that's prolly gone by now. I almost learned how to program TI-89s, but all that's gone also :P

I took French, German, and Latin, but all of that is...you guessed it: GONE!
