Sony PSONE Screens at Kmart 13 bucks

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Does anyone know what screen module is in the PSOne screens? Is it the same as in the Intec G7300 PS2 screen, or the InterAct Mobile Monitor for XBOX? I have both of those already and don't like their screens.

So that's the LCD from a PSOne? Definitely a different number; is it by Casio, Sony, or is there no maker name? What voltage does it need?

I can't get the LCD modules from the Intec/Interact screens to keep horizontal sync below about 11 volts, even though there is a 7805 regulator in them. It seems like about 1/3 of the circuitry (ignoring the backlight) runs from the unregulated input ~ 12 volts and pukes with anything much less.

No other markings on it other than what seems to be a serial #. I just looked at the loose lcd module that I had from my old broken psone screen, so I can't measure the voltage.

I checked 3 Kmarts today and not one of them had the PSOne screens. One store had the combo pack (screen + console) but they were only slightly reduced, $78.99.

Man, I should have checked this Sat! Anyway, I just got back from K-Mart and saw one buried in the game section. The price mark was 26.99, but when I asked if that was the correct price, she rang it up and sure enough...13.00. I asked if they had any more and she starts walking off........I follow.......she had 7 in all! I picked up 3 and may go back Friday after I get paid. At least one other was in bad shape. The box was open and the screen rattled when she picked it up.

Question: Can I cut the cord from the adapter and tape the wires from a battery pack to the wires in the adapter to get the screen to work? I'd rather not open the screen up if I don't have to....
