So youwant to have something like this?

Code: Select all

1. types of cheeses
        a. gouda
        b. meunster
        c. swiss
        d. parmesan
2. types of deli meats
        a. ham-based
                I. bologna
               II. sausage
        b. blade meat
        c. roast beef
etc...
Just turn on numbering, and when you press TAB it will go into the next tier of the outline. I believe there's also buttons that increase and decrease indentation, you can use those. I'm pretty sure you don't need to set specific types of numbering to do an outline in OpenOffice.
