"Glop Top Flop"

Post by jeffslot »

Hi guys, I've got my super joy taken apart & I de-soldered the famicon connecter (forgive me if i call something by the wrong name).

Can someone give me some more insight into how to solder wires to the traces near the glop top? I think I somehow need to scrape away some of the stuff on top of it, but I'm unsure how or how much. Thanks a lot.

if you want to access any leads on a board, just sand em'. I used some nail files; i bought like 10 for 1$ at a grocerey store. :)

Do you think I will still be able to cram it all into a gameboy case? Also can I still use the same pinouts? Thanks.

no, not the same pinouts. That IS NOT a power player 3.

I bought 3 or 4 Power player 3s and they dont look like that.
All of them are excpet yours :(

AHA! I happen to have found on of those in my room, but alas, it is fried! :(

Though there are pinouts on doomportables, all the connections go above the cart slot.

I agree, these should work for you. There is 12 pins running between your boards, and the control board looks exactly the same as you would find in other Power Players. If you plan on adding a cartridge slot, 72pin for American carts, I don't know if the current pinouts will help you. You can, however, reconnect the current slot, and get a Family Converter. If you choose to do so re-attach the cart slot with IDE cable so you can move the slot in your case.
Just my thoughts on it.

Wrong, it is. It just happens that there are at least 5 revisions of the inards of the Power Player III that I've seen. :P
Edit: and the pinout is labeled on the NOAC, so I don't see why there's a problem.

Oh, Hi Gannon!

There isn't a "Problem" so much as I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I do it. You're right of course (Probably why he's a moderator). They do appear to be lableled:

1) VCC = ?
2)V = Video?
3)A = Audio?
4)GND - Ground?
5)RESET - reset?

The rest aren't so clear:

P2D3 - ?
p2D4 - ?
OUT0 - ?
P1D0 - ?
P2D0 - ?
SCK1 - ?
SCK2 - ?

Sorry
