10.8v transformer?

Post by gamefreak301 »

I found a battery pack at Wal-Mart for $19, used for powering portable dvd players. I look on the back and it says it's a whoping 5600mAh! So I kept looking and it said it outputed 9V. My laptop battery (Dead) runs at 10.6v. Instead of buying an 'official' battery back new for $60+ I was wondering if there is a transformer that will raise the the voltage by this small of an amount? I guess it doesn't nessesarily have to be a transformer, just something to raise the voltage a little.
And then the first human typed up '1337'. Faith in humanity soon plummited.

Usually laptop batteries are more complicated than 2 wires, because they have power management boards. I wouldn't suggest using a battery that isn't made for the computer.

You'd be better off using the $20 battery for a portable and buying a new laptop battery.

The only computers I know of that use simple batteries are old, old, old PCs and the Macintosh Portable (which used a 7 amp lead-acid battery!)

Just buy the new laptop battery, because you'll probably screw something up using taht cheap battery.

However, imagine the battery life for a portable with that thing! :D (I'm using a 4500mah li-ion laptop battery)
