im back and i have a question. Can someone tell me if this diagram is right? dont worry about buttons, dont worry about the voltage, and dont worry about how im going to transfer the energy from the batteries to the SNES board and screen. Just tell me if i have the right idea.
Here's the diagram (click for a larger pic):

See, when i turn the switch on, it makes the batteries send energy to both the SNES board and the screen. And since, the board and the screen are connected with an audio and video cable, the game should come up on the screen. If im wrong, could someone copy the pic onto mspaint or something and edit it and put it on here?

Not really you need to have positive and negitive go to each the screen and console. The 7805 that the SNES uses doesnt have enough through put for the current for those two to be run.

And just to tell you you also dont have hany power going to the screen. RGB or composite dont transfer enough energy to do anything but get the video/audio signals there.

Here is the photo I redid it for you. You must put the batteries like this so that the voltage adds up and you get a total of 6v to power the SNES. Sure looks right to me. As electromaster said, you need enough batteries to get the right amount of voltage to run both the screen and the system. With your first configuration, you didn't, only having 3 volts (if I'm reading it right). I'm pretty sure electromaster is correct in his diagram.

Check ebgames.com for the PSOne Mobile Monitor, I think it's on sale for $30.
If you're using that screen, you'll need a high voltage (more batteries). With rechargeables, this would be

Ni-MH AA - 6 cells for 7.2V
Alkaline AA - 5 cells for 7.5V

couldn't find it. im not really lookin for a screen that you would put on a game system, im looking for a screen you can buy at radioshack or somethin with audio and video inputs. like at a project store or something. or do those not exist?

you can buy the Verge screen at circuit city, its basically the same as the PSone

If you want to spend $200+ at RadioShack for a small tv, go ahead.
But you need to see the PSOne screen NOT as simply a PSOne screen, but as a screen that can be used for almost anything. It's not the original purpose but rather the guts inside that are useful.

k. i'll just stick with the psone screen and just wire it instead of using the AV cable.

wait, can i use an AV on a PSOne screen? i've never actually seen one in real life, so i wouldn't know.

Question: is there a device or something that lowers the voltage of the screen and stuff so i don't have to have as many batteries?

So a good thing for you to do now is to read Ben Heckendorn's (the guy who owns this site) the making of guide for every portable he has made so that you understand a little more. I am not trying to be sarcastic and mean. You would seriously understand how to build a portable better by reading them. And to answer your question about screens just try eBay and read the description to see if it has AV and is in NTSC format. Oh and pretty much every screen, except those for computers and rare RGB only screens, every screen you find will probably have AV. You will understand all of this if you read Ben's making of stories. You can also search the forums. Just don't ask questions untill you have looked around to see if you can find the answer on your own.

Oh yeah and definitely go buy Ben's book (the link at the top of the page that looks like a book is the site) and read it because it explains everything about making portables. I bought mine at Barnes and Noble. Just tell your parents you want to buy a book that you will read and i wm sure they will get it, especially when they see how big it is.
