POS computer issue...
Well, after getting bored of having no pc I can use personally, i went ahead and put together the 'Indestructable PC'. I'm seriously considering changing that to the 'POSPC'. In short, problems. Lots of problems. Now, i've been using knoppix 4.2, and when I boot, it hangs on the 'autoconfiguring devices'. I was able to use some boot command 'Knoppix nohwconfig' or something and get it to work (but no sound, which i would like) Before the 4.2 update, I was using 3.8, and it started to have the same problem. It hangs after it says done, and puts an _ on the next line. Any Ideas?
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
Well I dont know but you can check to see if your ram is alright. Other then that if you cant get Knoppix to run try a smaller distro like Slax or DSL.

It's a Live CD that can be installed to a pendrive or HD as Debian. I recommend you go through the MyDSL stuff and se eif there's anything you might need there. (AbiWord, The GiMP...)

Try pulling out any unneccessary PCI cards and try again.
If that doesn't work, try on bootup.
Then look around the DSL wiki and forums, thy'll be able to help you.

i think it's an issue with the linux kernel itself...
The only PCI i have is the sound card.
That is probably where the problem is from. But, as i said, it worked fine for a while, nothing came loose or anything. It just stopped working.
The code didn't do anything. It still freezes.

Well I dont know what condision the card is in but it could be bad. You may have to take it out and see (put it in another machine). Otherwise I cant image anything else that would cause it to lockup.
