To the person who asked if USB 2.0 is faster: Yes, USB 2.0 has a theoretical throughput of 480 mb/s while Firewire 400 is only 400 mb/s, as the name suggests. In practice, however, Firewire performs better with a more constant data rate, whereas USB 2.0 tends to go in bursts. The constant flow is essential in many applications, most especially transfering/streaming digital video. Media professionals use Firewire as the standard, and that's not going to be changing unless USB 3.0 gets its act together.

The reason FireWire has a more constant data rate, is because it is capable of reserving a specific amount of bandwidth for communications between the 2 devices.

Didn't have it on my computer, bought it, found my new mp3 player(mobiblu dah 1500) didnt actually need it, so returned it. My computer thinks I still have it, so keeps telling me that icould download stuff faster. oh well.

I can't tell in those pictures, but I'm pretty sure the rear port is FW400, and I think the front port is also FW400, which means you don't have any FireWire800 ports.

oh, I didn't know the diffrence, I iwhs they made some sort of kit where you could put firewire ports and what not in the empty floopy drive space, I mean what do you guys have in there besides 1 floppy drive

ohh...i think i know... those old square disk thingies.....hmm.. obsolete... small space, not very durable, slow, short lifespan, hmm...no wonder they suck.

Hey, floppies are great for small transfers. Burning CDs everytime you have to get a text file onto another computer sucks. Unless a computer is running Windows XP(or 2000), you need to install drivers to use flash drives, and if you're on a work, school, or public computer, you may not be able to access your email.

havnt come across a computer recently that doesnt either have winxp or mac osx. so, my flash drive suits me much better than a floppy drive. i havnt used a floppy in something like 5 years.

Most crappy schools use Windows 98, and even some that use XP block flash drives.
