If I wanted gps, I can get a reciever for $70-$100, but software seems to be a lot more. Whats the best cheapest software to use?
Also, can I use any hard drive off ebay, or are hardrives not interchangeable?
Im thinking of getting a cheap lilliput LCD seeing as Xenarc is way out of my budget.

there's Microsoft Streets and trips, which isn't bad. IIRC, it's about $20.

its best u go to mp3car.com forums and look for stuff there

You can download D3 (Destinator 3 maps) from emule and torrents and then use the frontnds created to use them.

Most people use D3 cause it can be intergrated easily and you wont know that its windows.

Very nice! I'm hoping to still get a car pc, but now I have to worry about getting a job. When your under 16 its nearly impossible to find places that will hire.

I'll be doing a carPC, but it most likly won't be for 5 years untill up out of school and have my own full time job somewhere, I can't even afford my own can and when I get my first job (i'm 17 and i'm trying like hell to get one but noone wants to hire someone with no experence) a good 75% of it will be going to my school fund, so when I move to BC to go to school I can afford high speed internet... I don't think it's posible for me to go back to dial up

The frontend id Neo Car Media Centre

These frontends can be used for HTPC better than most of the HTPC frontends made

The NMC frontend is still a beta so its got 1 or 2 bugs but its been rewritten so it should be done very soon

Check out www.frodoplayer.com for great carpc frontend or check out www.mp3car.com and go to the frodoplayer forum for some cool skins (go to software > frontends > frodoplayer)

I have afew more pics of the inside i'll post em later if u guys want.

But the most expensive part is the LCD afterthat u can use a old pc u have laying around and use a $50 inverter to power it in the car till u save up for a proper system.
