Need help with fake atari on a chip through emulation.

Post by jeffslot »

Hi guys,

can anyone help me out with this one. I've been working with bicostp a bit, but want to give him a break (that dude is super patient). The picture below represents my current status with this project. We are trying to get the screen pad tested.

Currently if I power everything on, the white led on the top fo the screen pad, blinks & then stays off. The "Old" battery compartment gets very hot very quickly, even if everything is "Off", while the new battery compartment stays cool.

Thanks for any help.

I've got an idea that should make it work...

Just wire up 2 new battery holders for the screen. That would be easiest.

Why not just hack up a Flashback II?

he once mentioned that he wants the simplicity of an all-in-one unit, no carts to mess with. To each his own, I guess ;)

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

Hi guys,

I had this thing given to me as a present. There is nothing like getting something for "free".

This means you've made a short circuit: somehow you have - wired to + with nothing in between, somewhere. Your picture is not clear enough for me to find it.

Also, why are you making things more confusing by connecting a second battery pack to the first? At this stage, you need to keep it simple. If 4 AAs will not power the screen and the game at the same time, will they power the screen by itself, and the game by itself? First try getting everything to work separately, with the 2 battery packs not connected to each other. Only the game's AV should connect the 2 parts of the circuit together. If this works with separate battery packs, then try running both parts from 1 battery pack (you might need fresh batteries now since you shorted a set). If it seems like it wants to work but then it dies, try using a 6 AA battery pack instead of 4, or use a 4 C cell pack for the screen.

A.J.,

I'll answer your question about why I'm connecting the second power suppy as best as I can. I asked for some help on these boards & the only person that responed thought that it might be a good idea to ensure that we were getting enough power. I was happy to have something to try. I'm very new to this whole portableizing stuff. I'll take any help I can get, but I have to just trust what the members tell me.
