There are other places to buy those, or like you said make it yourself. $25 ios awful, I bet it only costs ~$4 to make! All you need is some kind of time delay circuit, a piezo (I think thats what it is) and a battery.

It makes a shrill buzzing noise I believe. RS has them.

they're kind of a flat speaker. Extremely annoying sounding, but good for high pitched sounds... pick up a musical greeting card to experience their 'joy' firsthand

ah. so you hook that up to the circuit and it produces the noise. That seems simple enough!

Just attach a piezo to a slow ocsillator. A better setup though, is to use a very sensitive pendulum(see ELX-EG) and PNP transistor for the trigger. You put the circuit in a pop can, and it sounds the alarm everytime somebody stops moving. They try looking for it, but every step they take a step, it stops. The pop can makes it really hard too find too.

Yes, theyre like paper thin, piezo elements I believe. As said before, you can really hear the "joy" with these in those cards. i believe they're also in those LCD games.

well, as amazingly simple all this is, anything electronic skematicy i made that up right now!is over my head. Although, I'll figure it out somehow.
1 quick question, what does 8 (upside down horseshoe thingie) mean? 8 ohms? And why won't it work as my PC speaker?

Yes, that "upsidedown horseshoe" means ohms. The reason (I think) why it won't work with PC speakers, is that those speakers weren't meant for such shrill noises, and piezos are.
