psp firmware 2.50

somebody should lock this, it's becoming a war.l
In my opinion, both are good. Gp2x is good because i can play oldschool games up to (but not including) the n64/psx/dreamcast era. The PSP is good because it's not made for homebrew, so it's official games are cooler and better.

Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

the devs seem to think that at least a small ammount of psx emulation on the 2x, it would be older/2d games and probably suck but it is possible, and marshalh is correct, the 2x has a one up on the psp becuase it has a hardware 2d chip, not a graphix chip but 2d like scaling raotation layering filering etc, i dont know a whole lot about it but i totaly cant wait for mine to come! and at least its not a flamewar, it is (for the most part) a well thought argument

and you are accusing me of being a fanboy of the psp. you are in even more of a fanboy over the gpx. you have even used the gpx or the psp which i have used the psp. the gpx is a cool gadget but come on the psp can do all that and more.Triton wrote:well, with usb in host mode the gp2x can use any sort of external harddrive etc, there will (im pretty sure) be commercial games for the gp2x, but it mailly focuses on homebrew/emulators, it as a large ammount of stuff that will come with it including some emulators and ports of other games. as to what kade said, depending on if or how much you reduce the size of movie files vua encoding, probably more than a few on a 1gb SD card, plus you can carry around WAY more SD cards than umds, they are much smaller, as to what xxxeagle said #1 there are plenty of emulators that are FOR SURE coming on to the 2x including several from the gp32 (reeseys DrMD genisis emulator for one) and why (if the 2x does get internet browse ability) woyuld it not be as good? i mean its a linux platform, it would be nothing for some of the gp32x devs to port over a few different browsers. PLUS to run emulators on the PSP you have to do al of this CRAP, hacking and exploiting, seems like a pain in the you know what to me. at least you can accuse me of being a total fanboy, i dont ignore everything you say about the psp over the 2x, i jst refute it. the psp is an ok peice of gadget that i would never buy, it has pixel and controll problems (from what i have read) and has that annoying "painted on the inside so its shiney" thing going on, fingerprints anyone? i would not like wiping it off everytime iuse it so it dont look like crap
well ther ya go

A public message to Sony
You keep making new firmware updates as an attempt to stop people playing "unauthorized" code. As most PSP owners are probably updating, and the "hackers" arn't. This means that every time you release an update, thousands are doing it. Now you have released five updates in the past six months. Firmware chips are made to flash only a few times, not every month. Please Sony, save owners repairing costs and time and let the "hackers" do their "hacking" of the device, and not use them as development tools!
Changelog - 1.00, 1.50, 1.51, 1.52, 2.00, 2.01, 2.50. This is a total of seven possible firmware versions.
