Genesis Mini?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Genesis Mini?

Post by Reploid Ayla »

so i was wondering, since there is a GOAC, would it be possible of making a portable of similar size of Ben's new NES mini? The only reason why i havn't pursued a portable, is the impractical size of them all. A tiny genesis portable would be a ideal piece of technology if you know what i mean.

I'm sure you could make a small one, down to roughly the size of a GBO or a VHS cassette. (becsause isn't there more to the Radica than the controller? :?) If the controller is all there is to it, you could even build a GOAC into the Xbox or PS2 version of a Hip Gear or Intec screenpad.

I was thinking of doing this after the SNES. I want to make it really small, and yes inside a PS2 hipgear. I planned this a couple months ago, but i was a little more motivated to work on the SNES. Basically, the buttons for the PS2 hipgear would be :
B-> X
A-> O
C-> Triangle
and it would use its d-pad

The 4AAs would either be on the back of the controller, or on back of the screen.
And of course it would use my USB Power adaptor!

ideally, you could make one as small as ben's NOAC mini. and even smaller because of the smaller cart size.

i think it would be a fun thing to pursue. i'd buy one if someone made it cheap enough

My original GOACp design called for the radica to be inside the controller part of an Xbox (or was it PS2? :?) Hip Gear controller. (I figured the cart slot could replace the shoulder buttons)

Maybe you could try putting the batteries in the handle parts of the controller? (Where the rumble motors usually are) I think 2 AAs could fit in each handle. (just cut the lower plastic case part of the cointroller to make a couple battery doors)

Sorry to say, but if you want to use 4 rechargeable AA's, the screen will really suck. 4 AA's (4.8V) don't give enough voltage for the screen to work right. And if you want to use normal alkaline AA's that will end up costing quite a bit. So you'll need at least a 5 AA/AAA holder.

Once I get a radica, it's going straight into a Game Gear case :)
