PS2 power.......

(this is about the old PS2 not the new one)
my friend gave me his broken PS2 today and I'm going to try and fix it. I think the problem was the power supply 'cause I looked at it and the fuse wasn't even there!!!!!!!!! so does anyone know what DC voltages the PS2 takes? I'm sure gannon could help me out on this one.......

yeah I just want to be sure....I guess I could just see which of the 4 pins on the PS2 are ground and attach 12v to the one that's not..........I don't want to screw it up, though. I'll wait to see what gannon or anyone else who's worked with the old PS2s says.....

Go check thescreensavers' website, they recently did a mod with the PS2 to make it run off a car battery.

It takes 12V at anywhere from 2-2.8A

Actually, it uses 12V, 8V, and 5V, but it has onboard 7808s and 7805s

. If it still doesn't turn on I'll replace the 7808 and 7805 regulators and see if it works. right now I'm still wiring the controller

(almost done, though, hope I don't screw this one up.....) but after I'm done with that I'll try turning it on with the GC ac adapter.

oddly enough I've used the gc adapter to power my ps2 before. It fits good on the power prongs if you bend the 2 outer ones a bit.

ok I just tried my gc ac adapter on the PS2 and...........it works

!!!!!!!!!!!!now I just need a controller, San Andreas, and I'm good to go

!!!!!!!
