Polls mean nothing. The xbox already has launch titles and lots of hype, same with ps3. Revolution has almost no advertisments or anything. there are no release titles yet. The revolution is also going to be the cheapest, so its for the lighter gamers NOT THE NERDS (me included) WHO FILL OUT THE SURVEY! that would be like using slashdot readers to find out what computers people are buying

I sure hope so, Dreamcast was fun to play!
This will be a radical departure from Sony's previous products

The fact is, it doesn't matter what games PS3 has, or what it has on the inside, everybody and their brother will buy it because it says 'Sony' on the outside. After they buy it, they will be unhappy for some time as the post-launch nothingness sets in. (most systems go through this.)

However, this large market of gameless gamers will very soon have every developer in the world jump over when they see what's happened. Lots of hardware sales, and slim game lineup, means any terrible piece of software that comes out has a very good chance of being bought.

Nothing can stop sony systems. The number of people who buy it will create a market for ANYTHING. They'll probably even sell you High Def versions of movies you already have so you can see them in 10% higher quality

I also don't like the thought that the revolution isn't for serious gamers--say it too much and it might become true. if it's done right, that system is what video gaming wanted to be the whole time--more like the booths at the carnival and less like memorizing super-moves. I don't have enough evidence to know how well they'll use their new controller, but it's a neat idea. With N's mini and now micro-games, they seem to be headed in a good direction. Simple is good, that's why I play Combat. The system won't do well with sports gamers, they're a BIG market, but to me they're the casual users, not the other way around.

The DC failed because of the PS2, SEGA failed because they dont know how to run a business. Neither of these compares to how the PS3 will go. The only comparison is price, which I doubt would be an issue, as all the little kids get babied by their parents so much. And SEGA was always expensive, or so it seems when I look at the retail prices of their older systems.

Yes, Sony has far to much momentum as a massive corporation to 'fail' in the sense that SEGA did. Similarly, Microsoft is unlikely to 'fail' at anything at all. Both companies also market numerous other products (though Sony would surely HURT if the ps3 was to do badly).

Unfortunately, Nintendo does not share this characteristic with the other companies. I'm afraid that if any company falls within the next few years, it will probably be Nintendo. Personally, I like Nintendo quite a bit, but Nintendo is simply the most vulnerable to "bad moves."

hey, the ps3 and xbox 360 will both do very good (probably). Hell, even the nintendo super gay retarted controller (even though i like nintendo) revolution might do an ok job. The real problem ahead of nintendo is keeping their current (in the case of the DS) and future (revolution) gimmick (sp?) products alive long enough for them to put out their GOOD products (the GBE and whatever comes after the revolution). This'll be like the VB, or if the revolution does good, the way the VB should have gone.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Bullocks, as someone here said the X360 is most likely to be the "next Dreamcast" Rabid support, big opening sales, then KA-BLOOEY.

Also like the Dreamcast it's a replacement system only 4 years after the last. Does this install confidence?

As for the PS3 being too expensive to develop for they said the EXACT SAME THING about the PS2 in 1999-2000. I believe something like:

"with the amount of hardware and what you can do it'll cost something like $10 million to make a PS2 game, so only a few companies (I think they inferred Square, Sony, etc) will even be able to afford to make games for it"

Right. That explains the ZILLION PS2 titles and vast amounts of cheap shovelware.

Who cares if Carmack likes the 360? I bet you my left arm Doom 3 on the Xbox didn't sell near what Halo 2, any Final Fantasy, GTA or Gran Turismo did.

Do people REALLY want the 360 to beat all? Does Microsoft really need to conquer another market? At this rate in 20 years they'll be only 2 companies left on Earth: Microsoft and Wal-mart.
