CHAPTER 1:
PORTABLIZING TOOLS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS.
Of the many tools we’ll be using in the process of portablizing this is the most important.

The soldering iron. The soldering iron is used to melt solder (shown next) into the appropriate places on a board and to solder wires to the correct spots. (and don’t touch the metal part)

SOLDER:
Solder is the second most important of the tools. Without it you cant… well do anything! And example of how to solder is shown above. An appropriate type of solder to use is .032 diameter Rosin-core solder. (I’ll tell you where to find this later) [solder]

HOT GLUE GUN.
Ahh the wonderfull hot glue gun. Creator of things (mainly melted glue) and burner of skin (mainly mine). If you look around Bens site he says (more than once) that a hot glue gun is a must for any project of this kind. The best recommended glue gun is one of those mini ones. Get at least 10-12 glue sticks that fit with the gun. To use it just insert the glue stick in the back and push it in then stick the nozzle where you want the glue and push the trigger

DESOLDERING IRON
Well if you screw up your gonna need something to fix it with right? Well this handy device can solve your soldering mistakes (but It cant unfry fried n64s damn

TACT SWITCHES (yum-yum)
Ah the ever so small tact switches. They come in many, sizes, and colors (and flavors too

CHAPTER 2:
Components and their functions/uses.
Power regulators.
This is one of the ones you’ll be using the most. Power regulators drop the voltage to a certain voltage. For example a 7808 voltage regulator drops the voltage to 8vs. A 7805 regualtor drops the voltage to 5 volts. (you can usually tell what it drops the voltage to by the last # in the name.) These regulators are needed to drop volatage in certain systems like the SNES. The SNES only uses 5v so if you input more it will fry it. And what battery have you found that uses 5v? none, so youll need a 7805 regulator. Also PSone screens MUST have 7.5vs at all times and since there is no 7807.5 regulator you must use a 7808. (8v WILL NOT fry a PSone screen.)
Here is how to correctly set up a regulator:
PIN 1 is where you put the original voltage coming out of the battery. Be it 9v or 15v you always put that here.
PIN 2 is where you connect the ground ( or the “-“) part of your battery. All grounds must be connected.
PIN 3 is the regulated voltage. Since the regulator pictured is a 7805 then 5volts will come out of PIN 3.
CAPACITORS.
Really the only time I used a capacitor was when I tried to drop the voltage to 3.3v for and N64 to accept. This is the definition of a capacitor
