In another thread someone requested a beginner guide so I decided I would try to make one. Feel free to add to it, if you feel its necessary to lock or delete this go ahead.

Basic electronic components. Can be found at radioshack digikey and many other electronics stores.

a lot of people use RC car batteries for there portables they provide a good long lasting source of power and can be found here.

A good soldering guide can be found here

Psone Screens- Most people use these for there portables they can be found anywhere ebay, gamestop, best buy etc. Usually you can get one for under $60 so if it costs more than that keep looking.

those freaking zenith screens! at sam goody in the mall they are STILL 130$!!!!!!!! they have been that price for over a year! they still have a bunch of the damn things im sure, at least 2 or 3, never sell em

You showed pictures of the parts, but you never explained what they do, or how to use them.

For any beginners who actually want to learn electroics, I'd suggest purchasing Electronic Circuits for the Evil Genius. It's a great book, writen by a former teacher of mine(I even helped him rewrite parts of it), and it's even used in some classes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(it starts wth the basics and works up). You can find it in local book stores or on Amazon for as low as $5 new. If you do get this book, and decide to try some of the projects in it, I suggest purchasing the component kit. It costs about $56, but contains almost everything needed to do every project in this book, and costs less than purchasing the parts individually. Here is a list of everything in the kit. I'm pretty sure all you need to buy separately is a solderring iron and a DMM. All of the high schools in my district use this book for the standard text book now, and it s great.

GC things across the board are on sale, hip gears, screens, batteries. Probably because Nintendo pretty much dropped it. Lets hope that Zelda game can save it (reminds me of DC trying to hold out for Shenmue II).
