Or type, but thats not the point... Anyways, I've noticed recently that there always seems to be at least 4 or 5 people (registered users) browsing the forums at any time of the day. I've also noticed that the chat has seemingly fallen off the face of the planet. Perhaps we could get the IRC channel (or something else, suggestions?) up and running again. I think it'd be fun to have something going for whenever, not just Saturday nights, and it might also help cut down on some of the one sentance posts/conversations (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) on the forums. Anyone interested?

IRC is insecure and doesn't work behind routers and firewalls. (meaning safe people online, like me, can't use it.)

Google Talk is the way of the future!

Unless we can find a decent php chat system, like they have on Kingdom of Loathing. (you log in, you type, hit "send", it shows up. Works behind firewalls and routers. It's great! All it needs is a login. (so if you join Kingdom of Loathing you can try the chat system I guess) It would be great if we could make something like that.

(Factoid: IRC has been around since about 1988, so there has been plenty of time to exploit it)

I've used a couple of different php chat systems before, and I didn't like them at all. They were far too slow, but it's been a while and there are probably much better ones out there now. As for IRC, what do you mean by "doesn't work behind routers and firewalls"?
