Cutting Heatsinks

Hey, I've been working real hard on my nesp lately and I finished wiring up the controls and finished my video amplifier on circuit board. On one of the pc boards I used, it has an LM317 regulator on it with a heatsink on the end of it. I cut a hole for the directional pad and the heatsink is too big to fit the tact switches in the right way

But if I cut the heatsink to make it smaller it will most likely fit in my case. But how would I go about cutting this thing? Would I use a hand saw or something? Once I get the controls inside I may post pics of what it looks like if anyones interested.

you could use a dremel, or bend it with some needle nosed plyers

i cut a heat sink with really old wire cutters that can pretty much cut anything

Luckily I was able to loosen the screw to the heatsink and turn it horizontally instead of vertically and it now fits woohoo! And about wirecutters...I use them all the time for cutting my case made out of an actual nes..but I wish i could find something better than that because its not the most accurate thing to use

How much do they go for anyways? Do you know a good store that sells those things...I've never seen one of them before

they sell them at home depot, i got my entire set for $70, but you can get them cheaper

Well, todays my lucky day...I got saftey glasses, a dremel general purpose kit, and a dremel. I went to the self checkout and scanned the items through. I payed the cash and walked out the store. On the way home I looked at the receipt and it only scanned 2 of the three items!

Yup, thats right I got my dremel for free...total cost was $21 bucks.

i tried dremeling a heatsink but the heat sink get too hot and i think it broke one of my disks once
