So my big question is are you going to place the SNES screen where the GG screen is or are you going to do it fold down GBASP style? I would love to see it use the original GG screen space. I definitely think it can be done if you get a LCD screen with a small controller board.

Allow me to speak, as I was the creator of that gamegear SNES. The flip-up screen was a last resort, because I was under time limit to get it done before a summer trip.

It definitely would have been nicer had I not fried the two Viewtek 4" screens I had in mind. These would have fit nicely into the Gamegear's original screen fixture. However, after I fried the second one I could not find anymore, so I had to go to plan B and use a larger, uglier screen.

But the truth is out there: A portable SNES can be made from a gamegear. If you are attempting the same thing, then use a hipgear screen because it will be easier to cram into the case.
If all else fails, take it apart!

well I guess the secret is out.

The SNES in a game gear with a PSONE screen is under construction!

I have a couple things left to do, buy a cart slo from vimmslair and attach it.

2. Buy a WORKING psone screen. (I measured it with a broken one of mine

3. put in the snes board, Psone screen board, and cut the new holes for brightness and volume

And thats it, its all out. the screen dosent flip down, its inside the game gear! It runs off of 6AAs too. 4 go to the SNES and 6 go to the screen.

Grr. I knew a Psone screen could fit in a GameGear. I'm looking forward to seeing this one though.

yup. Ive got it marked with my sharpie, just to make shure parts fit, and that the screen will be cut to fit correctly.

I can get pictures as soon as i get the cart slot relocated. Then it will start to be a little more portable.

Hopefully I can have it done in less than 3 weeks.(id say before halloween) I still need to order the cart slot.(I have the moneys, just waiting for some odd reason. :? )
Then I need to paint my fence and get the moneys to buy a screen. Then I can ditch the broken boards and put in a nice new one.

Wouldn't that create a problem by making the four batteries that go to both the screen and the SNES run down faster than the other two that go to only the screen??? I think it may work better to have all six go to the SNES and the screen, that way they all get equal power drain.

I know what youre saying, Yeah I think that would happen. But then again, if I didnt bypass the 7805, It would make some heat. Il wait and see.

Go to www.mouser.com part# 511-LF50CV $0.84 and use this power regulator instead of the 7805 and just screw it to some metal or to a PC RAM heat sink, you can get them at any computer store and they are like an inch square and will cool it nicely. That was what I was using on my N64p and it kept the chips on it cool. Then I broke it and it was self cooling :)
