If its going to be a full sized bartop thing, and not a mini-thing, then you should put a PC in it. That way you have every arcade game and more. Thats what I'm doing, only fullsize, I hope to have the cab built before winter.

it's a good idea but as soundwave said, as long as you're gonna making a full size thing, may as well give it a full size game library too

One word: MAME. Its the defacto for any arcade emulation set up. I can be installed to a hard drive or run right from a CD (KnoppixMAME).

Good luck on the cabinet.

Guys, he's making a tabletop, like my Game And Watch Mario's Cement Factory. Its not like you can put MAME in that.

You can make table tops with machines in them. One guy built a number of them using laptops. A normal PC probably wouldnt fit in, though.

Wow, I didn't know anybody even had those tiny things anymore!

That's a minaiture, to-scale replica of an arcade cab, not a full-size bartop cabinet. (I think it's about 7" tall... somewhere in that ballpark?)

What I'd do is build a cocktail table-style gaming machine, but make it round like a regular table, so I could keep it in my dining room and throw a tablecloth over it when company's around, but alone I'd uncoer it and gobble dots 'tl the wee hours of the morning. Of course it would also be able to link via Wi-Fi to the Mini-TIX set-top box, so it could run MP3s and videos.

Of course first I'd need the spare parts... and the money... and the dining room...
