CS problems

I know I posted this before, but a few months have gone, and my friend is bragging about 'the joys of mp CS', and I'm really getting pissed off. I got the Half Life Platinum Pack 2, btw. So, I try and press quickstart, and I get CANNOT CONNECT. SO I update like it says, but no updates and still the message. I email and they say to RECOMMEND STEAM, nothing else, that's it STEAM. I try it, nada (nada III Actually). NOw I AM REALLY PISSED. I really want to play. I have 256 kb. DSL. Can somebody please help me, everytime I press Quickplay, Cannot Connect or If I press Play CS, nothing can be found. I wanna play the multiplayer sensation that's sweeping the nation. Thnks

are you using steam? it's the only program you can trust you know

I never really had any luck with quick connect either for some odd reason. Try joining a game by selecting it. If that doesn't work...umm...are you using Counter-Strike? or Counter-Strike Source?

Original CS, and Steam just isn't showing any servers, I did what they told me to.

And my friend is bragging more then ever.

Try looking in the directory you installed CS and see if there is some kind of progem to run for settign up the connection. Other than that, try asking for help on a real CS forum.

I just bought CS today. It was included with the Half-Life platinum pack that I got for $5 (!!!GOOD DEAL!!!). I'm anxious to see if it works on my connection.
