Speaker help

A few days ago I reformated my hard drive (actually it was a "system restore") and I disconnected every thing that wasnt essintial to my PC and when I was finised i reconnected all of the stuff, but the speakers gave off a really loud buzzing sound and you can barely hear what you wanted to hear, just barely. whats wrong with my speakers and what should I do.

You did remember to turn up the Wave volume level in the volume control, right? Or is the speaker at a normal volume? (ie you can play your CD player over them with no problems with the sound)

Tried that, nothing. I hope I dont have to buy new speakers.

to see if the problem's the speakers or compy, test the speakers on something else and test other speakers (can use headphones if don't have any) on compy. maybe it's a bad connection?
