If it can supply 1 amp, then it should be able to run the N64. The problem is probably that the voltage is not high enough. Did you check the voltage of the adapter while the nintendo was on? Unless the power supply is regulated (which I doubt, since 3.4v would be a very strange voltage for something like that
), the voltage is going to drop considerably (possibly up to .5v), and get closer to its rated voltage, as the load gets closer to 1amp.
no, that wouldn't work. You can't put the same voltage potential on the exact same node...it wouldnt average, but the 3v battery would get really hot. If you wanted to do something like that you would need diodes, but those waste power, and you would still end up with less than 3.3v.
