Just a thought about the PS2 disc reader.

I just thought shouldn't it be possible to use a diffrent DVD drive? Like maybe one from a portable DVD player? The PSone drive used a CD drive so you could use any CD reader (or at least PSX to PSone). Shouldn't a DVD from a broken portable DVD player work? This would give you more flexability to move it around. I hope this isn't spammy I just have a few thoughts about my next (technically next, next, portable). Well whenever I can buy a PStwo.

I don't see why that would not work. In my opinion, you would need to get a pinout chart of the dvd players IDE pins and the pinout of the PS2 motherboard. Cut one end of the motherboard ribbon cable and solder it onto an IDE cable, connect that to the ps2 and you should be good to go. I would look into it more before attempting or if you wanna just give it a shot, purchase an extra ribbon cable for the ps2 and then solder it to maybe a cd drive first and test it out with a music disc.

If this works, then it'll be better for my project at hand as well. =D Let me know what happens with this and what your results are.
