though IIRC a german company was retrofitting faster macs with atari operating systems half a decade later.

so you absoulutely sure that this is the last or latest or most recent computer atari has made, how much do these run for?...er go for... er.... cost... in USD

I don't know how much 030's go for--more than I want to spend...I'd guess well over a hundred, plus shipping. As far as monitors, they all had some flavor or RGB out for monitor use. High res was *awful* on a TV.

Now, Atari made Falcon040 prototypes, but in the real world most people hacked 040 upgrades into their 030.

Eventually TOS's variations began to blend with BSD a little excessively and its users just switched over. Atari compatable boxes began running mint--both Atari hardware and software were out of the picture, making its users just BSD users with vastly inferior machines.

Ok there are two final release we're talking about here. The XE were the last series of computers for the 8bit Atari computers, the Falcon was the last of the 16bit computers.

Now Atari never made an all-in-one like Mac were you have a monitor builtin with the systm. For the most part they had it were you had the keyboard as part of the case.

I know that Atari did make a few laptops. However they were complete failers.

I thought atari made 32 bit pc's, if anyone is lost about what I want, i'm looking for the latest computer atari made, as in the fastest, biggest sotrage, that kind of stuff

The motorolla 68030 is a true 32-bit chip.

you might be thinking of the Atari TT030 workstation, but they are older than the Falcon 030. They were **REALLY** expensive (still are) but feature a floating point coprocessor.

edit: the last tt030 on ebay went for $365+30 shipping--and that's a puny 030 processor. It was a TOS/UNIX workstation with a maximum res of 1280 x 960--but only in b/w.

The short lived 32bit computer series of computers were like any other. It is really nothing but off the shelf parts. Custom built computers died in the 16bit era the only company that still did this is Apple.

whoa, this is really, pricey, well, I guss maybe I can gamble on getting a lower price, but, how portable would it be compared to the atari 800?
