DreamCast Outcast

Post by JackFrost22 »

Well my da says he trust me with lasers now(don't ask) So I thought I would do a dreamcsst portable. I got one at a flea market for $5 It works but is a mod gone wrong. The power board was cracked and glued back together and the power switch doesnt work. My plan is to make it like Segasonicfans CDXp I would pack some dc-dc converters and a lapop battery into the dreamcast on the bottom I could but a PSOne Screen And mout some controls. I think it would be pretty cool. I am going to do this after I finsh my custom leaxan case for my atari and my NOACp. I got one for $33. That is one Hell of a deal by me. Well i see this post is rambleing on a but. So post your thoughts below.

If your going to do all that you might as well start designing a new case to build. As for the dc-dc converter, unless your willing to sit down and build new board incorperating the dc-dc bricks or ldos I'd say buy the one they have on the Dreamcast page on doomportables.

Thats all the thoughts/comments I can think of, good luck once you get around to it.

isn't it the same NOAC? you could just use the NOAC from the super joy..........
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Well the difference is that the chip Kevin ripped out of the tristar had pins you can use. With an NOAC its like a black blob/bump on the board and you cant remove it.

What so you can cut pizza, hipmatize animals? I'd put a cover on just to keep dust from settling on the lens or disc. As for doing that, vacumme form a piece of plastic thats like the covers on almost all systems, otherwise your only other option is to cut out a circle and put some sort of skirt around it though as you like to use arylic and plex I dont think you can do that.

Well I had some time today to reaccess the problem. I took my DC guts and I powered them up. THey work  . Over the next few days Im gonna extend the wires for the gd-rom dirve. I have some dc-dc converters coming a 5-3.3v one a 12-5v one and a ??-12v one. I have a dvdp battery in my basement I think I could use. its 6 amps :) . I also have 2 psone screens lying around. So I was thinking of getting it done at a laser engraver. Does anyone know of a good desing program? Also it will be called.
