If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.
i found a thing on hackaday that a guy put the LCD of a 1.8" pocket TV into a slide projector to turn it into a data projector. that gave me an idea because i have an old slide projector and could get a hip/interact screen. would that work with a 2.3" LCD or is that too big? i can't show you the site because it's bandwidth is all used up
Yeah it should work. It's basically the same thing. You would just need to adjust the projector lense to fit it. I've seen one made from a 5" PSone screen, so I guess just about any LCD will work.
I saw something similar but it used a slide projector. It was pretty neat, but making a large projection with it makes the pixels visible. You can actually see the red, green, and blue in the projection.
A normal slide projector won't work. The lenses aren't made to pick up anything bigger than a slide (usually 2" diagonal). A medium slide projector would be big enough though.
would a 35mm filmstip projector work? i might be able to gwet one next year, this one garage sale (they have one anually) has one that never gets sold, i could get it for a few $
It would work if your LCD was 35mm (1.38") . Slide/film projectors generally have lenses designed specifically for the size of slides/film that they are projecting. If you try and adjust the projector lens further away in order for it to pick up all of the screen, you would end up with a ridiculously short throw distance (the distance you need to have the lens from the surface its projecting on in order to have it in focus). Which, needless to say, would not work out very well.
i just found out i have an older much easier to mod projector that has a pretty big lens thing to put the LCD in front of so it shoud work fine. what are the exact dimensions of hip/interact screens (H x W)? if it'll fit, i might want to buy one eventually.
how long is the ribbon cable for hip screens? i'm seriously considering getting one if i can find a cheep one but i need to know if it can reach down into the place the slides go. also, does anybody have a pic of all the hip gear guts spread out so i can see how it's all aranged?
